Pictures of exotic destinations and videos of exciting activities almost always accompany the discourse about digital nomadism. You can’t help but get the feeling that life for the digital nomad is more fun and less work. Right? Wrong. The reality is as far from the truth as the distance between the Artic pole and Madagascar.

Although they have the freedom to travel and fix their work schedule, most digital nomads must work pretty hard although getting distracted from work is a recurring hazard of the trade. This is why staying productive is very important for the digital nomad who wants to maintain the lifestyle. Nothing good comes easy so you need to constantly work at staying productive.

Here are some tips that will help you stay productive.


You need to establish a daily routine because once entrenched, the force of habit will keeping going on those days when you feel too lazy or distracted to work. Creating a schedule helps you focus as it outlines the main activities that you need to achieve each day. You can expand the daily schedule to weeks but ensure that the activities are specific and easy to achieve.


Whenever you feel overwhelmed by the amount of work to be done, avoid frustration and procrastination by classifying your tasks into easy, medium and difficult motivates. Completing the simplest task first motivates you and makes it easier for you to finish the others.


What time of the day are you most productive? Attempt your most difficult or important tasks then and watch your productivity peak because of how much focus you bring to bear on these tasks.

You should also find out the kind of environment that best suits you: noisy, quiet, public, solitary or well-lit? You should also try to change your workplace because it makes work feel less wearisome and limiting.

Also, put your phone on silent or keep it away from where you are working. If you chose to work from a public place you could use music to block out the noise without distracting you like instrumental or concentration music.
